HHO Booster System Design: Help Wanted

Cool, I am curious to see what you think of their product when it arrives. Even more so as to how well it performs. Drop us a note and keep us informed as to how it goes....

GEN II Booster design

Hey Redmeanie and others,

I have been toying with various booster designs and doing a lot of research, along with various testing to see what I learn.

I have completed my second generation booster and wanted to share the idea with you and get some advice as well. I suspect you have seen many designs and most likely experienced some of the pitfalls that I have encountered. My latest is a 6 cell series setup, small in size due to the space limitations in the car. It has tubes that are about 5.7 inches tall and 1"ID with a gap of .060". See pics for reference.

I have insulated each cell from the others, hence the temp increases only 64 deg F after 3 hours (using brute force method). The cell pulls at most 9 amps(started at about 7 amps), regardless of the amount of KOH added (I added several teaspoons from the 4 I started with (around 3 amps at this point), can't get higher than 9 amps). I believe this is due to the cell area, it limits the amount of current and hence the amount of hydrogen generated (about .7L/min).

The good news is it is thermally stable, not so good is the low output. I was shooting for about 10 amps draw providing 1L/min of hydrogen.

Options:

1) Increase the gap to 1/8th inch, might improve the hydrogen generation a little.

2) Setup three tubes per cell increasing the cell area by a factor of 1.5. Rough calcs indicate it would sustain 12 Amps and produce about 1L/min. Complexity of design goes up here.

3) Change design to Joe or Praveen type cell (larger tubes, much more area since is uses the full circumference). Spacing may be too large given available tube sizes. Most of the larger diameter tubes offer sizes in increments of .5" on the diameter, usually resulting in a gap of over .200".

All input is welcome.
