Okay, a little off topic but a cheap spark gap can be had by drilling a hole in the side of a pencil.

Are you talking to me? I am not questioning the possibilities here.
Can you show a circuit or a direction to go in? Is this a Don Smith?

What does the spark gap do to help this? If any. No spark gap?

ok bromikey, I will try using the pencil spark gap in the charge battery circuit after finishing this build.
I will also draw an update of my build.

I have been tinkering with an idea to use 2 bedini style pulse energizers to spin a Whimhurst generator. I am building a small one first as a proof of concept, I just got another batch of transistors so I can fix my current experimenters wheel.

Cap dump circuit

Hey BroMikey, the cap dump circuit is a simple one, right from your website.
I only have an electret photo flash capacitor @330wv @120 microfarads and a
200 vdc @ 270 microfarads.
The photo flash would not work, maybe not the best choice, but I only have those two choices, remember this is what I find in my garage.
I hooked up the 200 vdc 270 microfarad capacitor and it flashed then glowed on the charge circuit side and stopped flashing.
What is your mind set on this tiny problem?
