the cheapest 3D printer ive seen was around 4,500 (dollars i think )...desktop model. messing around with sketchup is great fun too ( andi havent finished with that avenue yet either ).

yes i do have an inductance meter ( or at least an inductance function on my MM)

these measurments using the x10 scale on the meter, in other words...the 10 above, regisered as a 1.0 on the meter.so x10 = 10. i also checked the meter using a known 100 Ohm resistor and it registered 11, so 11 x 10 =110 which is correct.

as another test, i connected up a battery of 12.08V..to a 100Ohm resistor.and the coil.with DMM on amps..

resistor alone... 115.9 mA

R = V / I = 12.08 / 0.1159 = 105.318 Ohms

resistor in series with windings 1>6 in series
114.7 mA

R = V / I = 12.08 / 0.1147 = 104.22 Ohms

therefore resistance of windings 1>6 = 1.1 Ohms

P.S...i found why the analogue readings are so apparently way off....even if i short the terminal leads....it still reads "1"...so.thats why they all came out to be a 10

pretty much the same as measured by the 3 DMM's

shorting the leads of the UNI-T meter still gives 0.2 Ohms (resistance of the leads? )... so....the resistance of the windings isnt 0.4 but 0.2....so 6 x 0.2 =around 1.2 ohms total.which is what i measured ( allowing for only being able to see a single digit after the decimal point )

hi,

finally finished wiring up my 6 port/channel PIC32-MX circuit...checked each channel using a 12V light bulb....all 6 channels works ok..first time without any re-wiring !! ( for me thats almost proof of the existance of God lol )

im going to try and re-draw a picture frawn by Marko i believe...to show exactly what and where the windings are....so things are a but clearer for ya'll. ( btw my drawing skills are even worse than my electronic skills ! lol )

the 4V supply on the left and the 12V supply on the right share a common ground

when i enegise the gate using either 4V or 9V or 12V the bulb lights as it should....but when i disconnect the 4/9/12V from the gate.the bulb stays on and only goes out if i connect the gate pin to ground.

its sort of acting like a "Latch" so to speak..is this normal for a mosfet? ialways thoght the mosfet switched "ON" when the gate was energised.and switched off as soon as the power to the gate was disconnected

the mosfet is a STP80NF55.though i have also tested IRF740 and IRF 540 and they all show the same behaviour..

am i missing something here?

ps i just disconnected the gate pin from the 4/12V and tapped the gate pin with my finger.and sure enough its charging the gate enough to switch the fet.is this normal?

ahh i think i have it..i nee da resistor between the gate and ground dont i?

would this be called a pull-down resistor?

whatever its called i think i can see what the problem is....but feel free to correct me if im wrong about this

wow indiana..this 3D printing technology is INCREDIBLE !!!! and JUST what i need....a sort of plastic version of CNC...but backwards...instead of chopping material off from a block....you lay down material a bit at a time....this looks perfect !!!! ( cost permitting )

im getting google sketchup.and throwing together a quick toroid...and sending it to one of the 3D places in england for a quote

Hi all. Just wound my first rodin coil. Sheesh that was hard. I hoping to hook up a version of my ossie motor circuit. And use it as a drive coil. Im looking for how the coil would get hooked up normally given Mark talks about 2 different circuits. Im only half way through the vids but if anyone can point me to a schematic of how theyve hooked it up I would greatly appreciate thanks.
